Girls’ cross country, 2 boys qualify for state

The girls’ cross country team finished in second place at the 5A-Region II meet Saturday. The top four teams qualified for state. Joining the girls’ in Round Rock, seniors Nick Wynne and Josh Akin who both qualified individually.

The girls’ cross country team, along with two members of the boys’ team, advanced to the UIL State Meet on Nov. 12 in Round Rock based on their performances in Saturday’s 5A-Region II Meet in Grand Prairie.

The girls’ team, which finished second to qualify as a team, was paced by junior Carrie Fish who finished second overall with freshman Amelia Jauregui seventh, Yuliana Lorenso and Kaylen Ruiz in 9th and 10th place respectively and Kendall Rose coming home in 40th.

On the boys side, both Nick Wynne and Josh Akin qualified for the state meet for the second year in a row with Wynne finishing 10th and Akin 12th at regionals.
