Orchestra’s Winter Concert is Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium with members working on the material in class and at home.

“We rehearse in class and we go over the problem spots and then we practice them at home,” sophomore Saahithi Joopelli said. “Then we do recordings every weekend or so so that Mr. Fickling can check that we actually know our music.”

The last week before winter break can be a stressful one for students as class work can pile up but for orchestra students it can be even more stressful as they have less time to practice and learn the music.

“It’s a little bit harder because we have a little less time to practice,” Joopelli said. “We can’t focus on it too much since a lot of other stuff demands our attention but it’s not too bad.”

For sophomore Lisa Punnen, practice time in class is vital as finding additional practice time can be challenging.

“We rehearse every other day in orchestra and we have to practice the songs and the pats that are challenging,” Punnen said. “Making time out of class is the hard part.”
