Big plans, big expectations, and big mums: homecoming season has descended upon Frisco ISD with homecoming nominations taking place this week from Wednesday to Friday.

“It’s a giant popularity contest, nominate people who you will think will represent or the Redhawks well,” student council sponsor Jay Sommers said.

Students will be able to nominate their peers via a Google form sent directly to their school e-mail. Nominations will be counted and the top five vote getters from each grade will move on to round two.

Nominees will be notified by Sept. 17, with their names will be announced to the school on Sept. 21 and final voting will taking place Sept. 22-23.

Freshmen, sophomores and juniors will be crowned at the pep rally on Sept. 25 while seniors will be crowned king and queen during halftime of the football game that night.

For those that have been honored before, it’s an experience that is likely to be remembered for a long time.

“It was unexpected and I felt overwhelmed,”  senior Rob Rever said. “But it’s a memory I won’t soon forget, being able to be named to the homecoming court alongside my friend Claire.”
