The 2015-16 FISD Student Code of Conduct is slightly different than in previous years as a result of House Bill 2398 which requires the implementation of a campus behavior coordinator.

The most prominent change will be the way in which truant student cases will be handled. Truant student’s families will be contacted to assure that the student attends the school before they are charged or sent to court.

School administrators don’t believe this new policy will greatly impact the handling of misdemeanors or truancy on campus.

“All I need to do is verify that the parent was notified and make sure that certain documentation was signed off on,” assistant principal Jason Harris said. “It’s just another way to ensure that we’re following protocol.”
