The boys’ basketball team takes on Wakeland Friday at 7:15 p.m. in the Nest on Senior Night, the last home game of the season.

“We have two games left,” head coach Daniel Melton said. “It’s extremely important because if we win tonight and we win Tuesday night, we tie Wakeland for third but we won head to head both so that would give us the third place in district and match up with the second place team in other districts.”

With both of the team’s final two games crucial, the team knows what is has to focus on to get a win.

“We are gonna have to put the clamps on them on defense,” senior Caelan Knowles said. “And I mean if we take care of ourselves on defense then the game should take care of itself.”

The last home game of the season means Senior Night for the seven seniors on this year’s team.

“It’s always important to recognize those kids,” Melton said. “The majority of them have been in the program for four years so we want to send them off the right way.”

For the seven seniors, Friday night is a capstone to their high school career.

“It’s kind of solidifying our career as a whole kinda bringing it all together this last game,” Knowles said.

In addition to the game against Wakeland being vital for playoff positioning, Melton would like to honor the seven seniors with a win.

“We have five returning guys for next year,” Melton said. “It’s important to them to win this game for the seniors and all the effort, and blood ad sweat and tear that they’ve put into the program for the past four years.”
