The school’s five orchestras took part in the UIL Orchestra Concert and Sight-Reading Contest at Lebanon Trail High School Feb. 22-24 with each orchestra receiving top scores.

Camerata (full orchestra), Symphonic, Sinfonia, and Philharmonic orchestras all received three 1’s on stage and three 1’s on the sight-reading portion which is the highest rating possible, resulting in each of these four orchestras being awarded “Sweepstakes”. Concert orchestra also received “Sweepstakes” and received two 1’s and a 2 on stage and three 1’s in sight reading.

“All five of the orchestras performed with great skill at UIL this year,” assistant director Chase Fickling said. “We’re very proud, all five orchestras received sweepstakes, meaning that they received an average of a division one, in both the concert and the sight reading portion of the contest.”
