The girls’ soccer team played their last district 13-5A game of the season, but it also ended up being the last game altogether.

“I was sad because it was may last time playing a real soccer game ever in my life, and it’s been my whole life,” senior Emily Starrett said. “It’s sad for the team because we usually make playoffs but we didn’t.”

Despite the team’s’ 1-0 win against Reedy at Reedy, the team didn’t end up in a playoff spot.

“Friday’s game actually went really well,” head coach Cissy Blaisure said. “They got the win they were supposed to and they got out really quickly and they new what they had to do and wanted to finish hard.”

This year is the first year in school history for the girls’ team to not make it into playoffs, but the team knows they did what they can.

“Unfortunately it wasn’t good enough because of the points,” Blaisure said. “We lost out by one point to go to playoffs, it ending on a win I thought was excellent.”

District 13-5A was a tough district to play in this year, with no clear understanding of who was going to playoffs until all the games had been played.

“Every team that we had in there honestly had a chance at playoffs until the very end, we had ties all over with the shootouts,” Blaisure said. “For me not making playoffs is definitely hard, and ultimately it’s going to sting for sure but with the way the season went something like this was bound to happen.”
