Just two months after the inauguration of Donald Trump, and the changes are already occurring. One of those changes include proposed budget cuts he is planning to make. According to CNN news, he is planning to make the following cuts: a reduction of the community development block grant by 13.2 percent, NIH by 16.2 percent, the Department of Education by 13.5 percent, and the Environmental Protection Agency by 31.4 percent to invest in the US military. In addition, Trump is planning to make cuts to the arts and public television.  PBS recently responded to this claim. Patricia Harrison, CEO for the Corporation of Public Broadcasting, said that these cuts would lead to the collapse of the public media system itself. While, yes, these funds to the military are important, so are the factors he is taking so much away from.

Many successful businesses and finances have been or will be lost due to this budget plan Trump has. For instance, while 13.2 percent seems like a fairly small percentage, that’s $3 million eliminated and $6.2 billion less than last year-and that is just in the community development block grant. That likely means jobs are being slashed.

To some people, the loss of a job can be life shattering. Single parents who are keeping the roof above their children’s heads and providing food on the table, college students who are struggling to pay tuition, or anybody in financial trouble at all.

Military investments are definitely useful and necessary, but taking those investments from other important things does not seem like the best idea.

I’m not claiming to be an expert in politics, but there are some things that are justified while others are not. will keep an open mind and hope for some positive effects, but as of now I’m a bit worried about the way the economy is going to start to look.
