Wingspan: How long have you been doing track and what got you started?

Anderson: “I’ve been doing track since sixth grade. My step-dad was an olympian in track, so he’s what got me started.”

Wingspan: What events do you participate in?

Anderson: “The 4x100m , the 400m, the 4x400m, and sometimes I’ll run the open 200m and 4x200m.”

Wingspan: What is the most challenging part about track?

Anderson: “I feel like track is one of the hardest sports because it’s one and done. Like in basketball you have a whole forty five minutes to make up what you’ve messed up on, but in track you just have one chance. You have to put in your all for that one time.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about track?

Anderson: “The relationships that I’ve made with the girls from the team.”

Wingspan: Is it hard to balance a sport and your school work?

Anderson: “Yes, it is very hard because I am taking college courses right now.’

Wingspan: How are you going to pursue track in the future?

Anderson: “Well I am signed to run next year at DBU, so college.”

Wingspan: How do you want to finish off the season?

Anderson: “Hopefully advancing in all of my events to make it past districts.”

Wingspan: How are you training in order to get faster?

Anderson: “Putting my all in during practice and making sure that I’m there on time.  Also just doing what I’m supposed to be doing and making sure I am eating correctly.”

Wingspan: Are there any pre-race rituals that you have before you go out on the track?

Anderson: “I always say a prayer and I always chew gum before I run.”

Wingspan: What is your mindset before running?
Anderson: “I always try to stay positive that day no matter who I’m competing against, and make sure that I put in my all and focus on my form.”
