First place finishes for cross country duo

Although the cross country teams didn’t have enough varsity runners to qualify for team placings, sophomore Carrie Fish and junior Josh Akin won their respective races.

Although neither the boys nor girls had enough runners to qualify for team results at the McKinney Boyd Invitational on Saturday, there were some strong finishes in both the girls varsity elite and boys varsity open.

Sophomore Carrie Fish led the way, finishing the course in 18:39.24 with fellow sophomores Kendall Rose and Gabriela Leyva-Montiel coming in 10th and 11th respectively and junior Rithika Proddutoor placing 31st.

On the boys side, it was another first place finish for junior Josh Akin in the varsity open as Akin crossed the finish line in 16:33.62. Akin was followed by junior David Buss in 19th, Nikhil Sridharan in 71st and Kirk Niekamp in 90th out of 138 runners.
