Bachelor’s degree in nursing could come at Collin

Collin College may soon offer its students the opportunity to pursue a nursing degree.

Collin College is getting closer to receiving full authorization to offer a bachelor’s degree program for nursing.

Two bills being discussed in the state legislature, Senate Bill 1328 and House Bill 2251, Have been filed that would allow Collin College to offer a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

This new program could help students financially.

According to the head of the Nursing Department at Collin, 90 percent of nursing students transfer to other universities in order to receive their bachelor’s degree, eventually leading to large amounts of student loan debt.

With this new potential possibility of obtaining a bachelor’s degree at Collin, students may be able to spend just under $10,000 for the program.
