Senior Isaiah Palmer signed his national letter of intent with the University of North Carolina Tuesday morning to continue his career on the track.

“I’m most excited for a new challenge,” Palmer said. “In college I’ll be pushed everyday and it’ll help me improve.”

Palmer’s signing with North Carolina is a testament to his high school career says assistant track coach Brandon Gonzales.

“I just think it shows that the kids have worked hard not only this year but in his case four years,” Gonzales said. “He’s built upon success that he established early due to his work ethic.”

This year, Palmer competed at the state meet placing second in the 400 meter run and fourth in the 4×400 meter relay.

“He doesn’t like to accept defeat,” Gonzales said. “He likes to compete and there’s gonna be awesome guys there that will push him and I think he’s just now scratching the surface of how good he can be.
