One player on the baseball team, junior Zander Brown, will be getting some extra attention Thursday as a local production company has decided to feature the player in the next edition of “Sports Stars of Tomorrow.”

The show seeks to feature athletes that could one day be stars at the college or pro levels, but we also love stories about inspiring young people regardless of their talent level,” Sports Stars of Tomorrow producer Joe McCann said via email. “Zander has both of these qualities. He’s a terrific baseball player who I am sure will play for a major college one day, maybe even professionally.”

The film crew will be filming Thursday’s game against Heritage as part of the piece. The junior first baseman has already had five home runs on the season, including two against Centennial and 15 runs batted in (RBI).

“Since I want to play college or pro baseball one day, it’ll help me get exposed to scouts,” Brown said. “It’ll help me get exposure, bring a little notoriety to me as well.”

The program will not only highlight Brown’s on the field pursuits, but also his off-field life and community service as well.

He’s a kid who cares about his community,” McCann said. “He’s raising money to help build a baseball field for children with special needs. I think that’s a terrific story, and that will probably be the highlight of the piece we do on Zander.”

The program will air on April 3, at 11:00 a.m. on Fox 4.
