The band is in the midst of its competition season, taking part in the Bands of America Marching Qualifier Saturday at Clark Stadium in Plano, placing 16th overall and third in its division.
The group also received the caption for Best Visual Performance in their division.

“This is the first time in the history of the program to win a caption at an event of this caliber,” band director Jamie Weaver said. “We’re really pleased about [our placement] but the expectations are now higher.”

The band will be back in action on Saturday at the Plano East Marching Invitational at Clark Stadium with Weaver expecting a bit more attention.

“By getting on the board with third place in our classification and an outstanding visual caption, it really does put a national spotlight on the program itself,” Weaver said. “People start paying a little bit more attention, and they start expecting things to go well at future competitions.”
