December means the start of District 13-5A play for the both the girls’ and boys’ basketball team with the girls currently 2-0 in district play after Tuesday’s 42-27 win over Centennial, putting them at the top of District 13-5A.

“We’ve beaten Wakeland that we feel is going to be a playoff opponent and so that was good getting that under our belt,” head girls’ basketball coach Ross Reedy said. “Then to top it off going out and playing a little better against Centennial.”

The boys’ team played its last non-district game on Tuesday against Arlington Martin falling 67-56 leaving the team with a 2-6 record to start district play.

“I think with the competition that we’ve played, being tough competition and more than half the teams were all 6A and many were ranked teams and you know most of the games we were right there,” head boys basketball coach Danny Melton said. “Just a few possessions here and there that we lost our focus on and we’re learning from that. We can’t make excuses about who we’ve played if they’ve been tough or not, we just need to move forward.”
