Sophomore Hannah Anderson has been on varsity since her freshman year.

Wingspan: What’s the biggest difference between playing school soccer and club soccer?

Anderson: “Playing for Texans is just a lot quicker and you have other people that are always wanting to be there, always wanting to play and school soccer you’re surrounded by friends and it’s just a more relaxed mood.”

Wingspan: How has being on Varsity as a freshman and now sophomore helped you to become a better player?

Anderson: “It’s helped me play faster. Last year I had to play with seniors and I wasn’t used to that so it’s made me stronger and faster and I’ve built relationships with different people of all ages and it’s just a good program to be a part of.”

Wingspan: How does your traveling for club soccer affect your school work and school soccer schedule?

Anderson: “For club we usually travel over the weekends so I have to be really good with my school work because I have to take with me or I have to work around my classes but for school soccer usually they don’t conflict which is really good.”

Wingspan: How is being committed to Texas Tech as a sophomore?

Anderson: “Last year it was really stressful just because I was trying to see where  wanted to go but now it’s just awesome I can’t wait to be there in two more years and it’s just a really excited feeling.”

Wingspan: What is the biggest challenge in knowing that you will be playing in college while it’s still so far away?

Anderson: “Knowing that you have to get a lot better. Knowing that you’re going to be playing in college is like high school because you have to play girls who are four years older than you when you’re a freshman but it’s exciting at the same time. You just have to work harder and know that it’s your future and that you don’t want to get hurt  just playing here but you also want to do the best you can.”

Wingspan: How is the team currently preparing for season?

Anderson: “We had some practices over the break and we’ve had more scrimmages than we did last year which is helping us a lot and we have tournaments starting and we are starting practices early which is really exciting.”

Wingspan: How do you feel about a playoff run this year?

Anderson: “I think we;ll actually do good this year. I’m hoping to make it past the first round because that’s our goal this year. So hopefully we’ll get it this year.”

Wingspan: What’s your favorite thing about playing soccer?
Anderson: “I just love the relationships it comes with and it’s just fun. You get to be fit and just have the best friends in the world.”
