Various departments on campus are competing Thursday to come out on top in this year’s third annual Teacher Chili Cook-Off.

This year’s competition is centered around the Super Bowl and last year’s theme winner, the social studies department, is highlighting halftime performances in their theme.

“We have a meat dress for Lady Gaga and a left shark,” department lead Jeff Crowe said. “There’s one department that has ‘Make Chili Great Again’ as their theme, so I’m a little worried about that.”

The winning department receives a Golden Spoon as the prize for the best chili and best design or theme.

“Social studies is the reigning champion for the best design/theme Golden Spoon,” Humanities teacher Sarah Wiseman said. “We’re proudly displaying it in the room where we eat lunch.”

The social studies department is looking to keep up their reputation and win both titles this year.

“We’re clearly the best,” Crowe said. “Really in all honesty, ours was the best chili too last year, so we should’ve won both prizes.”
