Spanish teacher, Ashli Taquino, has come up with the idea to assign a project where students create their own soap opera.

“I was hoping that the students would gain an appreciation for a tense that doesn’t exist in English and rather than just having a bunch of just practice and paper based assessments on it applying it to real life situations where there’s drama and relationship problems and fights and how we can resolve those,” Spanish teacher Ashli Taquino said.

This project was a way for the students to learn more about Spanish techniques in more realistic situations.

Taquino is also planning on assigning more projects later in the year.

“One that we are doing for sure is the students are going to be able to either work alone or with a partner to create a documentary of any topic of their choice and just show us what they can do with the Spanish language with that,” Taquino said.
