After finishing the fall season in the regional semifinals, the school’s tennis team is back on the court for its spring season with action continuing Friday in Rockwall for the Rockwall Tournament.

“Spring season is individual, it’s more bracket style, tournament style,” coach Brandon Justice said. “You choose either singles, double, or mixed.”

With the spring season individually based, the element of team is missing to a certain degree.

“Fall season is better,” junior Sourya Narala said. “When you’re with a team it’s way more fun and you’re not separated.”

The options to play singles or mixed is also different in spring season, but for some, that the better option.

“Playing mixed is different, but I’m not exactly sure if it makes it harder,” Narala said. “The most important part about playing any kind of doubles is to have good teamwork with your partner.”

With eight tournaments this spring, the team is already getting ready for districts with a tournament on Friday in Rockwall.

“We practice everyday and have after school practice until 5,” Narala said. “A lot of us practice outside of school as well.”

Friday’s tournament in Rockwall is the last before the District 13-5A tournament starts in a few days.

“District’s is Tuesday and we’ve just been practicing every day to get ready,” Justice said. “Making sure the kids are on the court and working hard.”
