Wingspan: How often do you practice for summer track?

Moreno: “Every single day except for Friday and Sunday. I practice at Allen High School.”

Wingspan: What events do you participate in?

Moreno: “My favorite is the 200m because it’s not too long and it’s not too short. I like the 400m a lot too because you can get out bad and make a couple mistakes but still win.”

Wingspan: How long have you been doing summer track?

Moreno: “I have been doing it for four years.”

Wingspan: How does it help you improve for season in school?

Moreno: “So first off you don’t get out of shape as much because sometimes you don’t run and will get out of shape. Also there are a lot more meets, so there’s more chances to practice and get in competitions. At school there are only like five to eight meets and in the summer there are a lot more. It definitely helps you get mentally ready for school.”

Wingspan: What meets have you won during summer track?

Moreno: “Last summer I made the farthest in my event and went to USATF regionals. So we almost made it to nationals, but we didn’t make it for the 4x100m. That was the farthest I have ever been. I’ve won regionals for TAAF before for 4x400m and I made third at state when I was a freshman for TAAF too in the 4x400m.

Wingspan: How is summer track different from school?

Moreno: “For school the workouts are a lot longer and the distance is longer, so it’s not full out and is more like building endurance. For summer track the workouts are shorter distance, but they’re higher intensity.”

Wingspan: What is your team called for summer track?

Moreno: “Team Quest.”
