Wingspan: What made you want to do Powderpuff?
Groves: “I decided to do Powderpuff basically because it was something I could do with all of the other girls in my grade and represent the class of 2018.”
Wingspan: How serious do you take Powderpuff?
Groves: “I take it very seriously it is life or death, we practice once a week. It’s very serious, we’re going to win.”
Wingspan: What’s it going to take to beat the seniors?
Groves: “Not very much, because they’re not very good.”
Wingspan: What position do you play, and how did you get it?
Groves: “I’m a safety. So I missed the first day of practice, and they were kind of like who doesn’t have this position yet and they decided based on if you could catch a ball, or if you could run.”
Wingspan: Do you think your team could just as easily take on the guys?
Groves: “Yeah, our football team’s not great so I think we could. The guys have trained us very well, so with our group training we could definitely beat them.”
Wingspan: How are you going to prepare before your game?
Groves: “We’re going to eat right because that’s part of the grind. We’re just going to go out there and remember our plays.”
Wingspan: Will the guys be helping you through the game while cheering you on?
Groves: “Yes, I think they are going to do spectacular, they have lots of spirit. They look great, they’re gonna to go out there and represent us.”
Wingspan: How are you training for the big game?
Groves: “Basically we go to Isbell Elementary and practice in the fields back there. We run drills, we do a little bit of conditioning, and then we practice plays. You know just really get out there and get after it.”
