There is a new furry four legged addition that has been walking around campus.

WTV’S Melody Akbari has the scoop.

Gabby Ramirez is a senior who is the only person on campus to currently have a service dog during school hours.

Her dog, Clypso, is a female pitbull mix that is eight months old.

Clypso has been given to Gabby by an organization called, Operation Kindness, and is currently being trained for medical alerts.

Both the school and the staff were happy to let both of them on board.

“The dog’s very well trained, very well behaved, and not a distraction at all,” economics teacher Fred Kaiser said. “Most of the students didn’t even notice we had a dog in the class on the first day,”

Although Clypso is a trained dog, there are some things students should be aware of when approaching her.

“People they’ll try and touch her when I’m not looking,” Ramirez said. “You’re not really supposed to do, because she could, not that she ever has if you startle her, she could turn around and bite you and that would be bad but if people ask to pet her I say yeah because as long as you ask me you know it’s ok because she knows that I’m saying it’s OK instead of just randomly touching her because your a stranger.”
