The second round of District 13-5A play begins Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. as volleyball takes on Wakeland in a battle for second place.

“I’m excited about the game tonight,” head volleyball coach U’ilani Womble said. “I expect Wakeland to come in knowing that they need to work hard to beat us. I think our kids had a really good game against Reedy Friday night and played some really solid volleyball so I’m excited to see what we do tonight. I think that we’ll go in a little more prepared. We watched some film, we know what they look like. I thought that the last game against Wakeland was a good match once we got going, it just took us a while to get going.”

Falling to Wakeland 3-2 on Sept. 8, the Redhawks enter Friday’s game in 3rd place in District 13-5A with a 5-2 record, while Wakeland sits one game ahead at 6-1.

“After the loss against Reedy and then the loss against Wakeland to begin with, we’re trying to come back and find ways to work around the hitters that weren’t there the first time that are back this game,” senior Tara Martin said. “It’s just new playing. We’ve got to work around it. I’m expecting a win because the girls are really ready and excited to get it over with and play our hardest and trying to get above Wakeland in the rankings.”
