Wingspan: How long have you been playing basketball and what got you started?

Abi: “I’ve been playing basketball for about six, seven years. I started in first grade, but I didn’t really care about the sport until later.”

Wingspan: How do you train during practice?

Abi: “I train everyday it just depends on the situation, I’ll train with ball handling, shooting. It just depends, I’ve gotta keep my skill sharp for basketball this season.”

Wingspan: Is there added pressure being the only underclassman on varsity?

Abi: “A little bit, but it also kind of relieves some pressure because I am so much younger than everybody else.”

Wingspan: Are you a part of any outside of school teams/clubs for basketball?

Abi: “Yes, I play for BMM, it’s a basketball club outside of school.”

Wingspan: How has your club team prepared you for the upcoming season?

Abi: “It’s definitely helped me, because there’s a lot of kids on that team who are probably going to play D1 basketball so it helps me out.”

Wingspan: What is you favorite part about being on the team?

Abi: “Being in the locker room with the guys is fun, even though I’m a sophomore they include me in their groups. It’s just fun playing with the guys though.

Wingspan: What position do you play?

Abi: “I play four and five, which is like center and power-forward.”

Wingspan: What is the most challenging part about basketball?

Abi: “I would say being on varsity is pretty challenging, going against guys like Zac Watson, and Sterling. They’re good at basketball, and it can get hard sometimes.”

Wingspan: How has your club team prepared you for the upcoming season?

Abi: “It’s definitely helped me, because there’s a lot of kids on that team who are probably going to play D1 basketball so it helps me out.
