Students with an interest to serve the community, increase school spirit, and lead the school are running out of time to apply to be apart of the 2018-2018 student council as applications are due Wednesday.

“It is awesome to be in StuCo because you get to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself by serving different organizations and raising money for those in need,” student body president Jeffery Nebeker said.

StuCo can also provide students the chance to work with a diverse mix of students.

“The benefits are that everyone is able to work together” junior Peyton Leonard said. “It teaches you so much about how to be productive and professional.”

Joining StuCo her junior year, senior Deepti Aravapalli is glad she joined the program.

“I’ve gotten to meet a lot of new people and I get to plan a lot of the events the school puts on,” Aravapalli said. “Also, I am an artsy person so painting posters can be a calming end to a day of classes.

With the deadline for applications approaching, Nebeker suggests that students who want to serve the school apply.

“I highly encourage anyone who has an interest in serving or being part of the school to apply for StuCo,” Nebeker said. “It is not only rewarding, but it is a lot of fun because you get to meet many new people and you get to grow close to people who have the same desire as you.”
