District 13-5A play is underway for the softball team with the Redhawks hosting Centennial Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The team lost its district opener 4-0 to Wakeland but the team is ready for another shot at their first win.

“I’m expecting a win hopefully,” head softball coach Jill Bradshaw said. “We have been working hard. I’m hoping that we hit the ball like we have been doing in practice and making our basic plays as solid as we can.”

Expectations are high with the team hoping to advance to playoffs; thinking they have what it takes. With a verbal commitment to Ouachita, senior Laurel Glatch wants to make her last season count.

“I definitely expect us to make it to playoffs,” Glatch said. “We have some really good talent this year. If we are going to make it to playoffs this is going to be the year. We’ve got some really strong seniors, a really good pitching staff this year. We should be able to get pretty far.”

With the bulk of the district season still in front of it, senior Halle Birckelbaw feels good about the team’s outlook.

“I feel like the team has a lot of good things going on, things are looking good and we’re working together well,” Birckelbaw said. “Pretty solid defensively and offensively, it’s just piecing it all together.”
