Junior Varsity Color Guard will have the opportunity to showcase their routines to the public at the Frisco Flag Night on Monday at Lone Star High School from 7-9 p.m.

We are most looking forward to supporting our fellow Frisco ISD winter guards,” Color Guard director Eric Mills said. “We are also excited about giving them a chance to watch our 2018 winter show titled ‘See the Love’.”

Mills has been treating this event like any other contest and preparing his team accordingly.

“As a team, we will prepare for Frisco Flag Night just like we prepare for most of our contest performances,” Mills said. “We work on perfecting our show choreography in class as well as during our rehearsals after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The guard students also spend time outside of our team practices working on individually achieving all of their choreography.”

Mills has made the color guard practice many different skills in preparation for their upcoming showcase.

“They practice counting through their shows, memorizing their choreography and drill, as well as communicating and performing in front of an audience,” Mills said. “They spend a lot of time individually working on their parts, but they also spend time as a group making sure their choreography is in sync.”

Freshman Lauren Grissom is looking forward to performing with all her friends.

“I’m really excited for people to see how talented everyone in the guard is,” Grissom said. “Seeing them accomplish all of their solos, tosses, and choreography makes me unimaginably proud of the hard work they’ve put into this season. There’s so many aspects of our performance to point out specifically but sharing the experience with the other members and watching them succeed like this means the most to me. Performing with them really is an honor.”
