Months of talking and planning are almost complete as hundreds of seniors on campus are making final preparations for prom April 7 at the W Hotel in Dallas with tickets still available for $75 through My Payments Plus.

“We have had a lot of luck with the W,” assistant principal Stacey Whaling said. “It’s a beautiful space with a great view of the city. The students seem to absolutely love it, they get to ride their limos downtown and a lot of the kids enjoy that. It has really been a positive venue for us.”

Students such as senior Chloe Banes are excited to see her fellow peers out of their element.

“I’m really excited to see all my friends dressed up,” Banes said. “Usually you see us everyday in casual clothing. Also our school is different, we always go to the W while other schools go to more three-star hotels.”

With the dance just less than two weeks away, some girls are still scrambling to find a dress.

“I haven’t even got a dress because I just don’t care,” senior Andrea Cobos said. “I wasn’t even going to go at first because of the amount of money people spend and to go to a school dance seems so ridiculous to me. It’s not a big deal to me, I’ve never cared that much about going to prom. If I could just wear slippers, leggings, and a big t-shirt like I do every single day, I would.”

Unlike Cobos, senior Lena Parks got her dress weeks ago.

“I got my prom dress kind of early,” Parks said. “It was the last one of its kind so I had to buy it then if I really wanted it.”

Parks attended prom last year as a junior but is looking forward to this year’s prom even more.

“I can enjoy it a lot more because it’s my prom,” Parks said. “It’s kind of for us, for the seniors. It will be a lot more exciting.”
