Three of Pernie Fallon’s art students are working to win honors for the school Friday and Saturday at the Texas Art Association’s Visual Art Scholastic Event at San Marcos High School.

“They have all worked extremely hard to create really, there is no such thing as perfection in art, but their work is really outstanding and superior so I’m really proud of them for going to state,” Fallon said. “I’m really excited that we will all be going to San Marcos at the end of April for the state VASE event.”

The last time the a visual art student qualified to go to the competition was in 2015.

Now Emma Krilowicz, Zoë Meeker and Christine Le are displaying their artwork with the ultimate goal of winning the state rating of a four and the gold seal, which is the highest award available.

“I wasn’t expecting to go to state because there was a lot of competition and there was a lot of good pieces,” junior Emma Krilowicz said. “I’m very excited to go to state and I’m really looking forward to it.”

The three girls along with the art teachers are traveling by bus with other FISD high school art students and teachers with hopes of bring back a couple of medals.
