With a line often extending outside the food court, the nacho bar is one of the most popular options in the cafeteria this year.

Nachos may not seem like the healthiest option for a student’s meal, but they actually fit the nutrition guidelines for a school lunch which is to provide healthy and nutritional meals to the students of FISD.

“It is not all that high for the chips,” cafeteria employee Beverly Newman said. “But with the cheese and all the other items on top, it does meet the required standard for a full nutritional meal,”

Despite the fact that many people view nachos as junk food, they are healthy enough for students to eat for lunch.

“It’s the cheese, kids love cheese,” Newman said. “That’s what makes these nachos so popular.”

Not only do most students enjoy the taste of the nachos, they are also one of the cheaper lunch options served in the cafeteria.

“They’re $3.75, an affordable price for students,” freshman James Wiseman said.

Regardless of the healthiness of the nachos, students seem to like them.

“The pizza is good too but it doesn’t really fill you up so then you have to go buy other things,” freshman Ariela Rodriguez said. “With the nachos, I mean it fills you up. I eat them every B day like after aerobics because it actually fills you up unlike most of the other meals.”
