Juniors looking ahead to next year

The class of 2018 doesn’t cross the stage for graduation until Saturday, but some juniors are already getting ready for what’s to come as their last year of high school approaches.

“I am getting done with my SAT so I don’t have to struggle and study for it next year and instead focus on college admissions and getting more scholarships,” junior Justin Parri said. “I’m excited to be one step closer to college.”

In addition to getting standardized testing completed, junior Nicholas Siv is looking forward to next year and what it entails.

“I am most excited for late arrival next year and of course graduating,” Siv said. “I also need to work out my time management for my years at college.”

For Deepika Yerva, preparing for her last year of high school includes visiting colleges as well as getting in the right mindset.

“I am preparing for senior year by going to college tours over the summer and by just thinking that senior year should feel just like junior year without the stress,” Yerva said.

While Yerva is excited for the end of high school, she is sad to say goodbye to the teachers she has had this year.

“I will miss all the teachers that I have this year because all of them were the best I could have asked for,” Yerva said. “[But] I am most excited about senior year being the last year of high school.”

Learning from her experiences throughout the year, Yerva believes that incoming juniors shouldn’t worry and instead do the best they can.

“Some advice I would give incoming juniors, is to just not stress about getting the best grades or being top in your class,” Yerva said. “If you [do] the best to your abilities then that’s all that matters.”
