Playing a role in her achievements during the school track season, junior Keke Hackett joined a track team for summer break.

Wingspan: Why do you think summer track is important?

Hackett: “I think it’s important for my school season because it is a build on of experiences and things I learn from the summer that play into school season.”

Wingspan: What events do you run?

Hackett: “I run the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m.”

Wingspan: What fuels your passion to run?

Hackett: “I just think that it’s really fun and I enjoy it and it pays off, a lot of good things come from it.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about training in the summer?

Hackett: “My favorite part is that I get to run with all of my friends on the team and it’s competitive. The thing about it is that it’s all on me. During school you have to come back and talk about it and work on it, but in summer track it’s more relaxed for me.”

Wingspan: What are you planning to improve on?

Hackett: “I’m just going to try and keep dropping my time in my individual events so I’m working on that to boost my confidence for the school season so if I get better at it in summer track I’ll be like I already did it and I can do it better now.”

Wingspan: Who inspires you the most to succeed?

Hackett: “I think my dad because he always talks to me about how he think I can be good at this sport and improve because he and my mom were really good at it and he just really hypes me up before I go out and do something and it’s really inspiring.”
