As starting safety, sophomore Connor Hulstein takes his varsity position in his third year of playing football.

Wingspan: How long have you been playing football and what got you started?

Hulstein: “I’ve been playing football for three years and I started because of my friends and my brother was playing, so I wanted to play to.”  

Wingspan: What position do you play?

Hulstein: “I play starting Safety and backup Quarterback.”  

Wingspan: When did you realize that football was the sport for you?

Hulstein: “Probably last year during our games, I really liked it and thought I was alright at it, so I might as well keep going.”

Wingspan: What is something that motivates you?

Hulstein: “Mainly the coaches, they’re always pushing us. I want to get better and play with my friends and my brothers.”

Wingspan: Why was summer training important for this upcoming season?

Hulstein: “It got us in shape and got us a lot stronger. We’re going to have to put in a lot of hard work, so it got us ready for that.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about your sport?

Hulstein: “I like hitting the most because it’s fun to go out, and if you have any anger or anything, you just let it go and hit people.”

Wingspan: What is something that you want to improve on?

Hulstein: “I want to improve on some of the plays we run; they’re very complex and I want to know they back and forth by the start of the season.”

Wingspan: What are you expecting from this season?

Hulstein: “It’s going to be a better season than last year. We’re definitely going to be a better team than last year. All in all, it’s just going to be a pretty good season.”
