Preparing to give a fist bump to the referees before the start of the game, Damiana Bova-Ford takes a spot on varsity in her sophomore year.

Wingspan: How long have you been playing volleyball and what got you started?

Bova-Ford: “I have been playing volleyball since I was 5. The reason I got into it was because my best friends parents were putting together a PSA team and I joined. Very soon I fell in love with it and haven’t stopped since.”

Wingspan: What fuels your passion to play?

Bova-Ford: “The environment of a team setting and the adrenaline rush of the fast paced game.”

Wingspan: How do you prepare yourself before a game?

Bova-Ford: “I listen to a ton of music and do fun warm up games with the team.”

Wingspan: Who do you think is your biggest competition this year?

Bova-Ford: “Reedy and us have always been close, as well as Wakeland. Our goal every year is the focus on them as well as getting the job done with everyone else.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about being on the team?

Bova-Ford: “Always having someone to lean on and balancing the pressures of the game. Also getting to meet lots of girls who have different backgrounds but coming together with a common passion.”

Wingspan: Is there anything that you are wanting to improve on?
Bova-Ford: “Communicating, I tend to be so into the game that I lose sight of helping out my teammates.”

Wingspan: How are you working to achieve this?

Bova-Ford: “By always having a positive attitude and making sure my team does as well.”
