Tennis makes history but falls short

Advancing farther in the state tournament than any squad in school history, the tennis team’s season came to an end in the Region II semifinals with a 10-5 loss to Texas High Friday night at SMU. With rain preventing the matches from being played at the originally scheduled site of the Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium Tennis Courts in Rockwall, the action was moved inside at SMU.
The change in location served the team well as it won its opening matching against Rockwall-Heath 10-0. From there it was on to the semifinals against Texas High where the team fell 10-5 bringing their season to an end.
“It was exciting to see the players make it to Regionals this year,” head tennis coach Erica Dopson said.
“This will serve as a building block for our team to reach higher levels in the future.”
