Volleyball added a 14th straight win to its now 14-1 District 9-5A record, beating the Frisco Raccoons 3-0 on Friday.

“Frisco showed up a little different than last round with two injured players and a new setter on the court, so it kept us on our toes,” senior Regan Cooper said. “Overall we kept a good amount of momentum and finished strong.”

The new faces might have caught the girls off guard, as their greatest lead during the match was only by seven points in the first set (25-18), with the Raccoons losing by only two points in the second game (28-26).

“I feel like our match on Friday did not go as well as we hoped, despite the fact that we did win,” senior Jessica Gordon said via text. “We just struggled as a team a bit that night and made a lot of unforced errors because we went into the game very unfocused.”

However, the Redhawks quickly closed the gap, rallying together to win the last set 25-20.

“I think we often try and keep each other in line when someone may get a little cocky, because we know if we have that mindset, it will be hard to go out there and beat other teams,” Gordon said via text. “Sometimes it’s easy to play down when facing a team that isn’t as challenging, and so that’s what we’re really working on.”
