Since a young age, 11th grader Violet Krause has been working in the modeling world. Recruited by modeling agency Kim Dawson, Krause has been on the cover PaperCity, done shoots for stores like Francesca’s, and walked in numerous runway shows.

“Being on the cover of several magazines and shooting with famous photographers who have shot so many of my idols is one of the best feelings ever,” Krause said.

Krause has done numerous runway shows for Nordstrom, and even got to be in Dallas’ fashion week show, DIFFA, a yearly event that takes place downtown Dallas, similar to fashion week.

“It was so surreal,” Krause said. “My family and friends were so excited for me and it’s made me very well known in the modeling world.”

Krause lived in Houston for most of her life where she was recruited and an agent with Kim Dawson discovered her and offered to sign her on the spot, which is a rare occurrence in the modeling world. Although modeling at such a young age can be exhilarating, it can be tough.

Krause expresses gratitude in being able to work with numerous modeling and marketing companies at a very young age.

“It can be hard to put on a smile during twelve hour shoots when your feet are aching,” Krause said. “Sometimes you’ll come across girls that let a lot of their work go to their heads but it’s important to always stay humble and love every second of it.”

Modeling has taken up a big part of her life and has even had to miss school for big events. It’s a responsibility but a big opportunity for a career. Krause’s mom, Krissy McClure, helps her anyway she can. She schedules shoots, talks to photographers, but overall, makes sure she’s caught up in school.

“Modeling at her age can be hard to juggle with school, but I make sure she keeps her head on straight,” McClure said. “As far as I’m concerned, modeling comes second as long as she’s in school. It’s an after-school activity.”

As far as she’s gone in the modeling world, Krause isn’t sure if she wants this to be her career choice. Since a young age, she’s loved journalism.

Off the shoots, Krause makes sure to stay grounded by spending time with friends and focusing on her academic career.

“I’ve met with several agencies that are eager to sign me when I turn eighteen, so we’ll just have to see how I feel about it when the time comes.” Krause said. “Being able to model and work with a well-known magazine would be a dream though.”

Krause has had substantial success at a young age so much that it could lead her to many other opportunities in the future.

“It was a little intimidating always being the youngest on jobs or at a runway event,” Krause said. “I’ve met a lot of friends that I keep close with and I am kind of looked at as the baby of the agency.”

Krause continues to walk runways and do shoots, all the while staying rather humble. She balances her schoolwork with her professional work by always putting her education first she explained.

“Modeling is what I love to do, but my education is just as important,” Krause said. “It can open so many doors for me.”
