Reading a book from the school’s library doesn’t mean having to check out a physical book as students and staff can now use Overdrive to access thousands of books online.

The district has introduced a new way to access books through Overdrive, a free online library of ebooks and audiobooks that can be read at any time.

Anyone in the district can utilize hundreds of new and classic titles by signing in to Overdrive with their school ID. The site is available on computers, as well as on mobile devices.

The site was created to allow students to easily to check out books even when the library is closed. Chetty will be giving out gift cards, books, and candy to those who help promote Overdrive by posting a picture of the book they’re reading to Twitter or Instagram.

“It’s just an extension of the library,” librarian Jeana Chetty said. “After the library closes we’re not physically here, and [when] you’re at home in your pajamas, you can still get books.”
