Portraits portray personal passions

Students will be doing large scale pastel portraits over the next few weeks in AP drawing class. Each portrait will be done with a grid to get the drawings to look as realistic as possible.

“I’m really excited to work with this medium, we’re using pastel colored pencils,” senior Jessica Komarovsky said. “I’ve never used it before, and I’m really excited about that, and I’m also excited to make something I’m hopefully gonna be proud of.”

The portraits will reflect the students’ passions, heritage, and culture, and will be hyperrealistic in detail.

Well I hope they learn how to mix realistic skin tones, that you normally wouldn’t think of using to create skin tones,” art teacher Pernie Fallon said. “I’m really excited that the students are looking at their culture and they will preserve an element of it in this portrait.”
