The Redhawks’ basketball teams are in action Tuesday against the Memorial Warriors, with the girls tipping off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys starting at 7:15 p.m.

“We just need to clean up some of things that we didn’t do as well, in terms of turning the ball over too much and we gave up some easy buckets that we’re not used to giving up,” head girls’ basketball coach Ross Reedy said. “My old associate head coach is the head coach over there now, so we’re really excited about it for a lot of reasons; one, it’s another game and two, because our social ties to the girls and coaching staff over there.”

Looking to go 5-0 in District 9-5A, senior Mara Casey believes Friday’s game displayed what the team needed to work on in order to be ready for Tuesday’s competition.

“Friday’s game helped us see what we still need to work on and capitalize on before playing some of the better teams in our district,” Casey said. “We’ll work a lot on rebounding, polishing our pressure defense, and our offensive game.”

On the boys’ side of the court, the Redhawks hope to bring their District 9-5A record to 2-1.

“We’ve prepared by respecting  our opponent and remaining hungry,” head boys’ basketball coach Stephen Friar said. “Any team can get beat at anytime so you have to remain focused.  Every team on our schedule is just another obstacle in the way of our ultimate goals.”

Senior Zion Richardson believes going into each game with a fresh mindset helps the team in finding success.

“We treat each game like its own, in which we say go 1-0 each game, so the win on Friday helped but not much of impact for Tuesday,” Richardson said. “We just need to improve on finishing and taking care of the ball. We had a lot of unnecessary turnovers last game that allowed easy points for the other team.”
