With back to back tournaments, girls and boys wrestling competed in the Lady Cougar Class, and the sixth annual Alzheimer’s Classic on Dec 14-15.

On the boys’ side, the team competed against four different schools from across Texas, placing third overall. Taking down Lake Highlands, Keller Central, and Timber Creek, with the only loss of the tournament coming against Rockwall.

Girls’ wrestling took first place with a team score of 143 points, with three wrestlers placing in the top five.

“I think the team did fantastic as a whole,” senior Ashley Cook said. “We won the tournament by 62.5 points which is incredible. Personally I had a really tough finals match against a 2018 state champion. I am proud of how I wrestled in that match even though it didn’t go my way. It goes to show me I can still compete but there is still work for me to do before state in February.”
