Looking to extend their six game winning streak in District 9-5A Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. against Centennial, the girls’ team practices in The Nest as head coach Ross Reedy looks on from mid-court. The team enters the game with a 6-0 record in district.

Rivals of Rolater Road hit the court on Tuesday as the Redhawks’ basketball program face off against the Centennial Titans, with the girls’ tipping off at 6:00 p.m. and the boys to follow at 7:15 p.m at The Nest.

“Friday’s game helped us in staying in our rhythm,” head girls’ basketball coach Ross Reedy said. “It’s kind of the same thing in that every game tells you something about yourself, like looking in the mirror and seeing ‘okay, I’m here, maybe I want to shape up or tone up better’ or ‘I need to wash my face, brush my teeth.’ Every time that you go out and play, you see where you have holes and what you need to work on.”

Senior Makenzi Glover believes the team needs to continue to play with enthusiasm in order to beat the Titans.

“Centennial is going to be a competitive team for us to face,” senior Makenzi Glover said. “Today we should continue to play with and for each other. We play well when we have high energy and get excited for one another.”

On the boys’ side of the court, the Redhawks expect a win as they have a history of taking down the Titans in previous seasons.

“It is a rival game and a must win because they have never beat us,” senior Zion Richardson said. “To prepare, I’ve watched film and just imagined what I’m going to do in the game, and listening to music helps every time.”

Head boys’ basketball coach Stephen Friar anticipates if the boys apply what they have worked on, then the team will be able to pull through with a win.

“I feel confident that we’ve prepared really well,” Friar said. “The guys will go out there and give their best efforts.”
