With the push to the playoffs taking focus, both the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams came away with wins Friday at Heritage.

The girl’s team kept up their strong defensive effort, holding their last two opponents to an average of 12.5 points a game as they took care of the Coyotes 42-15, holding on to second place in District 9-5A.

“I think we all came out with great energy,” senior Makenzi Glover said. “At times throughout the game it was more challenging to keep that energy. But we continued to get excited for each other which helped a lot. Although we won by quite a bit, scores don’t always mean everything. We tried a few new things during the game and had some success while running them. We were more proud of ourselves with our defensive stops and points scored off of new looks.”

The boys’ team continued its climb up the district standings, as they sit in a three way tie for second place after beating Heritage 76-63.

I think that the team is doing well this season but we still are holding back on talent,” sophomore Myson Huff said. “We haven’t shown how good of a team we really are yet although we performed great against Heritage. I want the team to go farther than we ever have before in playoffs this year and leave a mark in Frisco ISD.”
