Battling the Knights and the Cougars, the Redhawk wrestling program takes to the mat on Thursday, competing in a double dual tournament against Independence and The Colony starting at 5:30 p.m. at The Colony.

“I feel pretty confident that our team will do really well, especially since we are senior heavy,” junior Karina Quiros. “I feel a little nervous for myself since it will be my first dual at the 128 weight class.”

With the district tournament fast approaching on Feb. 8-9, senior Austin Widner looks at the practices leading up to Thursday’s duals as a time to refine.

“Tonight is The Colony’s senior night so everyone is excited to go and compete under the spotlight that nights like this give,” Widner said. “We’ve really focused on resting up this week. Since we are approaching districts and coming off a couple tough weeks, this week has really been important for our recovery.”
