Getting one step closer to playing in San Antonio, the girls’ team beat District 9-5A rival Centennial 42-32 at Reedy on Tuesday night. The boys also came out victorious with a 74-58 win against the Princeton Panthers at McKinney Boyd.

Boys’ and girls’ basketball advanced deeper into playoffs after coming out with wins Tuesday night.

The girls’ team continued on the road to San Antonio by beating District 9-5A rival Centennial 42-32 in the regional quarterfinals at Reedy.

“We had a good game last night,” senior Kenzi Glover said. “Centennial is a great team and like everyone says ‘it’s hard to beat a team 3 times’. It was closer than what we wanted it to be, but overall we executed and got it done. It was a great win for us in a great atmosphere.”

For the boys, Tuesday was the start of the team’s postseason as they jumped out to an early lead, beating the Princeton Panthers 74-58 at McKinney Boyd.

Setting the tone for area playoffs, the boys team took the court at Mckinney Boyd, and went head to head against the . Now Bi-District Champions, redhawks will push on to state.

“I think we could’ve played much better overall,” senior Peyton Harwell said. “But especially in the first half. We came out slow, but our energy and effort in the second half picked up and it showed on the scoreboard.”
