Both softball and baseball are in action Friday night. For softball that means a trip to Independence to play the Knights, while baseball takes on Lone Star.

After a loss to Lone Star Tuesday night, baseball is set to take the field alongside the Rangers once more on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Lone Star.

“Our mindset is to be aggressive and come out scoring early,” junior Kyle McCord said. “We don’t want to make any mental mistakes. We want to be more consistent in our fielding and continue to hit the ball well.”

With the playoffs out of the picture, softball is focusing on adding a fourth win to its 3-12 district record Friday against the Independence Knights at Independence.

“Independence is a tough team but our players have done a good job adjusting to new positions with other people out for injuries,” junior Sue Slater said. “It’s important that we come in as a team and just have fun“
