Improving its District 9-5A record to 2-1, the tennis team took down the Wakeland Wolverines 10-9 on Friday, giving the Redhawks a two-game winning streak.

“I felt great, as a team we are improving,” junior Yatin Pokle said. “The team did great against a strong team, everyone did their part. There were a lot of close matches and we were able to win them, which ultimately won the match.”

Pokle hopes the team can hone in on not only finishing off opponents but also approaching matches with the right mentality.

“As a team we need to work on closing points,” he said. “A lot of people don’t know that tennis has a mental side as well, and I think we as a team we need to work on having a strong mental game as well. We are playing practice matches and working on closing out points.”
