Football rallies together for third match of the season. The team takes on Greenville High School at 7:00 p.m.
Looking for its first win of 2019, football took on Sherman at The Ford Center Thursday, losing 42-14.
“I was proud of the effort and energy we started the game with,” junior Will Ashmore said. “The atmosphere at the Star is incredible, the student section was loud and it was a ton of fun playing in front of our classmates.”
Despite the outcome, head coach Matt Swinnea is impressed with the athletes execution throughout the game.
“While the score doesn’t indicate it, this was by far our best performance in many areas, especially with regards to effort, aggression, and competitiveness,” Swinnea said. “Defense in particular played well and our offense actually outgained them on the night. We just have to quit being so generous with our gifts. The elimination of turnovers and costly teams mistakes will be key moving forward.”
