Marching bands throughout the district are getting their chance in the spotlight of the Ford Center at Tuesday’s Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase from 7-9:30 p.m. For the Redhawk band, the showcase comes less than 72 hours after placing in the top 10 at the Little Elm Classic on the Lake Competition

“It’s always nice to start off with some success,” color guard director Scott Mills said. “It allowed us to see what we are able to accomplish through the results.”

Placing higher than it did in last year’s first contest, Saturday’s competition set a precedent for the rest of the season.

“Going into finals was not expected, but it definitely was a possibility,” tuba player, senior Ian Wang said. “I think everyone feels better going into rehearsals and later competitions knowing our potential.”

The band performed their show Cloud 9 twice, performing at 3:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

“It was a lot of fun,” floutist, sophomore Jeamin Yun said. “It was a tiring day but I had enjoyed performing and spending time with my friends.”
