After a postponement due to severe weather on Friday, the Redhawks basketball teams will take on the Lone Star Rangers Saturday, with the girls beginning at 5 p.m. and the boys to follow at 6:30 p.m. “We can’t just expect a win but we can expect to bring the same energy that pushed us to a win last time out,” senior Micaiah Abii said.
Soccer isn’t the only sport with its games being postponed due to the threat of severe weather. Friday afternoon at approximately 3:35 p.m., Frisco ISD announced all district varsity basketball games were being moved to Saturday with sub-varsity games cancelled.
Taking on the Lone Star Rangers, the girls’ will take the court at 5 p.m. hoping to preserve their undefeated (8-0) district record and first place position.
“Although they are a pretty young team, they are an athletic team that has only lost once,” junior Kayla Pernis said. “In order to maintain our undefeated winning streak, we need to play as a team, work together, and execute our game plan.”
The boys’ team will take on the Rangers, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Coming off of their first district win of the season on Tuesday, senior Micaiah Abii knows the team can’t relax.
“We can’t just expect a win but we can expect to bring the same energy that pushed us to a win last time out,” Abii said. “It’s great that we got our first win but we definitely aren’t satisfied.
